book review

If you love that book so much, why don’t you marry it?

I’ve used anatomy illustrations which I have lovingly colored in, to show ideas here on this blog, and I want to share again how great the source of the material is. The book I have is Kapit and Elson’s Anatomy Coloring Book, and I learn something new every time I look at it.

It was recommended to me by someone whose wife had done a yoga teacher training course, who was a little surprised to find out that the yoga teacher training course I took didn’t use this book. I did my 200 hour training at Holistic Yoga School, in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the book we used was this one. Yoga Anatomy is a good book, and it makes sense for learning about the muscles involved in yoga poses. However, the coloring book has so much more, muscles and nerves and joints and bones. And blood!  And breathing! There is enough depth to last me for years, as I pick a body part at a time to figure out and try to understand. As I color, I really get to know how the parts interconnect and interact, and the color helps me focus, and remember better.
